This year I had the pleasure of creating the visual identity for La Punta della Lingua, an international poetry festival that explores poetic language in all its forms, blending it with theatre, music, performance, and videopoetry. The festival takes place in the Marche region of Italy, with events in cities such as Ancona, Recanati, Macerata, Offagna, Jesi, Fabriano, Urbino, Castelfidardo, and more — celebrating both historical landmarks and natural settings like the Mole Vanvitelliana, the Conero Park, and monumental churches. This edition featured around 80 poets and artists from Italy and abroad, with performances and readings by Abel Ferrara, Iaia Forte, Milo De Angelis, Viviana Nicodemo, among many others. I'm grateful for this important commission and would like to thank the artistic directors Luigi Socci and Valerio Cuccaroni, along with the entire festival team. The image I created is based on archival photographs that I reworked into more abstract, geometric compositions. The circle is the key visual element — it multiplies, overlaps, and deconstructs the figures, creating a kind of poetic bubble in which each subject floats.
The graphic reference draws inspiration from early 20th-century collage art, which I deeply admire. The subjects are ordinary people, captured in moments of leisure or play, and reimagined against colored backgrounds that enhance the interplay between figures and circular forms.
As is often the case in my work, the image was also animated. I work primarily with moving images, and even when asked to design a static visual, I always imagine how it might move. For me, motion is fundamental to any visual identity.
Below are the animated posters — including the blue one featuring the girl, which became the main visual for this edition — along with a few variations used at the festival venues and across social media.
