Here I present the proposal for the visual identity of the Med Film Festival 2025.
Unlike last year, when we were in outer space, this year we return to the Mediterranean Sea.
Following the suggestion of the festival director, Ginella Vocca, I worked in the direction of interpreting a message of peace. Today, the landscape is deeply marked by the wars that continue to cross our sea, and for this reason peace becomes the only possible utopia. An utopia, but also a hope that awakens in many forms: in the paper boats crossing the sea in rescue; in the awakening of the gods — such as Zephyrus, the god of the wind, blowing in support of the small boats. Even the sirens, deities of the depths, inhabit an enchanted seabed and, together with the gods, are beginning to mobilize.
On this page I present the visual identity in its various declinations. There are two proposals for the poster: the hands meeting on the stormy coastline, and the children at the beginning of their journey at sea.
The images used in the video are developed from animations and animated collages created by me.
I also included a frame from Georges Méliès’ *The Sirens* (1920), resampled and animated with digital techniques to represent the seabed. The seabed background itself also comes from a silent film, *20,000 Leagues Under the Sea* (1916).
For the first time in the history of the Med, the dominant color becomes yellow: a choice that reflects the moment of alert and mobilization we are experiencing today. At the beginning of the page, you can see a few fragments of the video, in both horizontal and vertical formats. The full video is available at the bottom of the page via a Vimeo link.
